Awesome Moments From the Filmfare Awards 2014

 Another Filmfare awards function has come and gone, with some of the biggest names in Bollywood hosting segments, receiving awards, and even performing. You already know who took home the night’s biggest honours; now read on to know what we thought were the best parts of the event, which was telecast on Sunday night.

1. Shahid Kapoor‘s performance. He’s already done a Michael Jackson tribute some years ago, but this time around he did it to his own songs, which was unexpected but awesome. The actor danced to Saree Ke Fall Sa and Dhating Naach, but unfortunately left out Gandi Baat - guess it wouldn’t have really gone with the MJ theme. He’s one of the few stars who actually performs at these functions live, and he’s got crazy energy, so it was great to see. I really wanted him to keep dancing… mostly because he seemed to be losing an item of clothing with every song change. #justsaying
2. Karan Johar‘s goof-up. Usually, it’ll be edited out of the show if someone stumbles over their words on stage, but not this time around. Too funny, I suppose! KJo was supposed to announce the winner of the lifetime achievement award (Tanuja) and speak a little bit about her background, but he kept fumbling over the words ‘naayab kaalakaro’ while reading off the teleprompter. Much hilarity ensued, because he tried several times but just couldn’t get it right. Everyone laughed, especially Kajol… which just caused KJo to laugh even more while trying to get the sentence out. He even said, “How could you do this to me, Kajol? It’s your mother receiving the award!” Eventually Farhan Akhtar ended up coming on stage, saying the sentence correctly and then leaving again. Finally, post that, KJo got it right and Tanuja could come up on stage to collect her award (from Amitabh Bachchan).

3. Dhanush‘s acceptance speech. The actor accepted his award for Best Debut (Male) for Raanjhanaa, his first Hindi film, despite the fact that he’s already done upwards of 20 Tamil films. In his speech, he said, “This just shows that wherever you go, there’s more to learn and you’re always a newcomer.” Loved how soft-spoken he was and that he admitted that Kolaveri Di is boring now and it took him a long time to get over that song.
4. Ranveer Singh‘s performance. He’s another one who performs live, and this guy really knows how to get the crowd going. Not only did he do a funny act where he urged the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to patch-up (by claiming their box office collections would be amazing), but he also broke out the Tattad Tattad. Of course, in true Ranveer fashion, it wasn’t enough for him to just perform – he also had to go and interact with the audience and get some stars to do it as well.

5. Deepika Padukone‘s acceptance speech. Okay, how adorable was it that she took a fan along to the show and invited her on stage? DPad said that the award was for all those who supported her, and it looked like she was tearing up a bit while saying so! A great, heartfelt speech from someone who has grown a lot recently and deserves all the praise coming her way.
6. Vivek Oberoi whistling during Salman Khan‘s performance. Salman’s act was prerecorded, which meant that the editors obviously had to insert bits and pieces of the stars clapping and cheering during the dance. Very slyly, someone decided to put in a quick shot of Vivek whistling. As if! *lol*

Shahid Kapoor & Sonakshi Sinha’s Puppy Love

From what I hear, Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha‘s love story is getting stronger by the day. (Oh, and according to today‘s papers, when Sonakshi was approached for this episode, she asked that Shahid also be the guest alongside her. Hmm!)
The two of them started off slow and were only getting the feel of each other for a while, but the relationship has grown. Even after the Screen awards ended recently, Shahid and Sonakshi left the venue and headed to an after party together.

Now, I’m told that the first person – apart from Vishal Bhardwaj and the Haider crew – to see Shahid’s new look was Sonakshi. Shahid is constantly in touch with Sonakshi, and as soon as Aalim Hakim finished creating this new look, Shahid took a picture to send to her. Sonakshi liked the end result and that seems to have pleased Shahid a great deal. He was happy to have her approval, and even went around telling his close friends that Sonakshi loved his new crew cut. Cute!
It’s puppy love for them, it seems! And I have to say, it’s kind of sweet as well. It’ll be fun to see how this budding relationship does in the future. Do you like this jodi?

5 Juicy Revelations by Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha on Koffee With Karan

 This week on Koffee With Karan, there was some gandi baat happening on the sofa, as Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha were the guests of the show. They’ve developed a good rapport after the release of their first film together, which was clear during the conversation. They’re two people who generally try to remain as politically correct as possible, but still, as is with any Koffee With Karan episode, there were some fun moments and even some interesting revelations. Read on for the recap on what we learned about these two stars!

1. Shahid and Sonakshi never got along in the beginning

They’ve got a great rapport now, but before R… Rajkumar the two weren’t really friends. In fact, quite the opposite: they thought the other was snooty! Shahid was apparently put off by the fact that Sonakshi went up to receive an award at a function Shahid was hosting, but didn’t acknowledge him although she said hello to everyone else on the stage. At the same time, Sonakshi thought he was just standing to the side and not acknowledging her although everyone came up to congratulate her. She explained away the incident saying she was flustered, while Shahid said she was intimidating since she was surrounded by her dad and mom. So a bit of a misunderstanding in the beginning, but clearly they sorted it all out.

2. Shahid and Sonakshi get along really well now

It’s not just me, right? There’s definitely some sort of chemistry happening there? Sonakshi called it a “buddy vibe” but I don’t know, I’m sensing something else. We already heard that they were sort of testing the waters back then, but are now apparently very much into each other (keep in mind this episode was shot a while ago as well, even though it’s airing now). Shahid called her his favourite co-star, while she said she has 2 favourites, one being Shahid and the other being Akshay Kumar. They also had a great vibe on the show – laughing, making fun of each other, praising the other. Check out this deleted scene where they talk about their relationship a bit more:

3. Shahid hasn’t interacted with Kareena post the break-up

When asked what his status with his ex-girlfriends are currently, Shahid said that he and Kareena Kapoor haven’t really interacted with each other. He claimed they ran into each other once and it was mildly awkward, since they were both trying to be formal and nice. As for Priyanka Chopra, he says he’s hung out with her a lot and it’s been good. Can he hang out with them as friends now? “With Priyanka, for sure. With Kareena… we don’t have that kind of equation.”
He also ended the conversation with a bit of a snub by saying that he thinks Sonakshi can be a lot more than a housewife. That relates back to Kareena’s episode, where she said that, if not an actress, Sonakshi would make a good housewife.

4. Sonakshi Sinha is a “good girl”

When questioned about why there are never any major rumours about her – just a few, here and there – Sonakshi said that it’s likelier that it’s because she’s ‘boring’. However, she does say that her closest friends aren’t from the industry and keep laughing at her movies, so that keeps her on the ground at all times. “Other than that, I’m working really hard.” And when she’s not working, she’s spending most of her time with family.

5. Shahid Kapoor has had quite an evolution

While Sonakshi can still be considered a good girl, Shahid seems to have broken out completely. He was a lot more prone to doing some gandi baat, and even openly said some things he would have perhaps shied away from before. For example, he didn’t deny that he was dating Priyanka, something that he did even when they appeared on the show during their relationship. He even admitted that he hooked up in a public place, passed a somewhat snide comment at Kareena, said you can “enjoy your sexual freedom” when in a relationship, and picked up on every innuendo. If you go back and watch his first episode with Kareena, you’ll see the difference!
